Its first exhibition was on June 20, 1971, as a skit on the Chespirito program. The program was initially broadcast on Canal 8, but in 1975 it was switched to Televisa. The original name of the program is “El Chavo del Ocho”, which translates as “The Boy of Eight”. In Brazil, Chavo ended up becoming Chaves. The creator of the series, Roberto Gomes Bolaños, is nicknamed Chespirito, which means “little Shakespeare”. The character Chaves is eight years old, but when he started playing him, Bolaños was 42, and played him until he was 63.
